Climate change presents unprecedented challenges to Bangladesh's socio-economic fabric, threatening agriculture, fisheries, and livestock rearing, the backbone of rural livelihoods. Communities, especially the marginalized, lack access to essential resources and information necessary for adaptation. This project aims to bridge these gaps by promoting community-based solutions that integrate climate risk management into livelihood practices.
Current Situation
Bangladesh's vulnerability to climate change is exacerbated by its geographical location and dense population. Frequent cyclones, floods, and salinity intrusion disrupt agricultural activities, leading to food insecurity and economic losses. Despite efforts by government and non-governmental organizations, the need for localized, community-driven adaptation measures remains critical. This project aims to fill this gap by empowering communities to build resilience from the ground up.
Future Prospects
Looking ahead, this project envisions a future where communities are equipped with the knowledge, resources, and institutional support to withstand climate shocks and thrive sustainably. By mainstreaming climate adaptation into local governance structures and promoting participatory decision-making, we aim to foster a culture of resilience that transcends immediate challenges and paves the way for a prosperous and climate-resilient Bangladesh.
